Our first bus will be for sale in a couple of weeks, as a school bus but if you purchase it, Texas Tiny Homes is available to design and custom build you a conversion. The advantage to us doing the conversion is; it would be insurable since we are a professional building company and a Texas corporation. Insurance companies are not big on insuring bus conversions and tiny house trailers done by non professionals.
The bus is a 2002 International Bluebird 3800 and has 61,XXX miles on it. It’s powered by the International Harvester T444E diesel engine. It has air-brakes, front and rear air-conditioning, electric entrance doors, cruise control, AM FM stereo and is 28′ feet long, 8’6″ wide, and will provide approximately 20′ X 8’6″ of build-able space. The bus has two brand new batteries and a brand new starter solenoid.
The Kerrville Daily Times just ran a feature article on one of our plan customers in the Texas Hill Country.
The Mullen family purchasedPlan 750 and built the home on their 16,000 acre family ranch near Comfort, Texas. The interesting article tells their story and it shows pictures of how they finished out their new home. They did a fine job, as did the Kerrville Daily News. The two photos are by Tom Holden
We now have over 50 plan customers in the Texas Hill Country, but hope to develop a Texas Tiny Homes community there in the next couple of years.
If you like their videos they would really appreciate if you become their patron and SUPPORT THEM – every cent counts: http://patreon.com/expeditionhappiness
Follow Their travels along the Pan American Highway!
They started in Alaska and are heading south – as far as the road takes them. Through Alaska, Canada and the states, down into Mexico, Guatemala and Panama they want to travel mostly off the grid with their new tiny house on wheels.
As small towns suffer from a continuing flight from rural toward-more urban living, some economic development groups and governments in these troubled areas have chosen to stay and fight.
The Homestead Act of 1862 is no longer in effect, but free land is still available out there in the great wide open (often literally in the great wide open). In fact, the town of Beatrice, Nebraska has even enacted aHomestead Act of 2010.
As with the homesteaders of the 1800’s, the new pioneers must not be the faint of heart—they can’t be the type to shy away from the trials of building a home from the ground up, or the lack of Starbucks on every corner, or unpaved roads (extremely remote location and lack of infrastructure is probably what caused a well-publicized land giveaway in Anderson, AK to flop). If the Google Maps overhead view of the vast open space surrounding the modest street grids of these towns doesn’t instill cabin fever, then read on—these parcels are up for land grabs.

I just purchased one of these for everyday use, but I also bought it for riding my bicycle at night. I did a lot a research on both bicycle flashlights and everyday flash lights and went with this one. I also ordered a separate bicycle flash light attachment for $4 bucks. This flashlight is small, well built with metal, but talk about providing light. WOW!!
