This historic 1930s lodge on a private peninsula needed a complete restoration: the casements had been chewed from within by trapped squirrels, snow blew in through gaps between the logs, and there was 15 inches of water in the basement.
The client’s goals were to preserve the character of the lodge, modernize the layout, improve the natural lighting, and create an effective building envelope. To bring in more natural light and improve lake views,
Albertsson Hansen added a large dormer and several new windows, each replicated by a custom mill-work company to match the original 1930’s window in every detail.

The Chateau de Vigny was constructed in 1504 for French cardinal, Georges d’Amboise in the commune of Vigny. The castle is just 30 miles from Paris, France. The 38,000 square foot Castle, with somewhat of a medieval history comes with 45 acres of land.Apart from the neo-gothic architecture, many other features survive until the current day. The moat, the six turreted towers, and all the 16th century charm you can stand are all present, which is currently on the market for $5.7 million. The castle wasn’t always this gorgeous. In the ensuing two centuries it fell into disrepair, before being completely renovated in 1867. At that time it also received a chapel and a “dungeon square.”A moat-turned-water feature surrounds the main structure, but there’s no drawbridge here — two bridges allow visitors access.
